Homemade Chicken Soup

A friend gave me this recipe and it is so tasty!  It took about an hour and a half .  It's quick and you don't need to plan ahead to cook it all day.

Boil 6 cups of water
Add Knorr chicken bouillon cubes (1 cube per 2 cups of water) Please use Knorr, it will make all the difference!
Let chicken cook in broth water ( I used about 4-5 thin chicken breasts and it was plenty of meat.)

Take out the chicken and set aside to cool.  Shred it to add back in later.

Add diced carrots and celery to the broth.
Add Reames Frozen Homestyle Noodles. These noodles are good because they are more like a dumpling and don't get mushy like regular noodles do when you cook them too long.
Bring the veggie and noodle mixture to a boil and simmer for about an hour. If you feel you need more water (which I did) taste the broth because you may want to add another bouillon cube.

After the veggies are done, add the chicken back in just until it's all heated.  Again if you need to add more water just taste the broth and see if you need another cube.  After the initial 6 cups water/3 cubes I added 2-3 more cups of water and one more cube.

That's all I did.  The Knorr bouillon cubes really add a lot of flavor.  My friend adds a can of cream of chicken soup but I didn't feel like it was needed.

I think I have finally found my "go to" homemade chicken soup recipe!

Yummmm! this is on my menu list for next week. I have lost the taste for canned soup, even the expensive ones. So I am looking forward to tasting this.
Thanks for being my "test kitchen". :)
Love ya

I just "happened" to see the Reames homestyle noodles in the frozen food section at WalMart today. Searched HEB but they didn't have them. I have an Amish Chicken and Noodle recipe I'm going to try. This looks really good.
